COEUR d'ALENE — Junior outside hitter Chantel Wilkes had a "flawless" night in leading the No. 3 seed Panthers past the No. 6 seed Wampus Cats 25-20, 25-20, 25-19 in a loser-out match at Holy Family Catholic School to open the 1A District 1 tournament.

Wilkes was 13 for 13 on digs, 14 of 14 hitting with two kills, 8 for 8 on serve-receive and 7 for 7 on sets to lead Charter (9-6) to its ninth straight win.

Chelsea Macumber had seven kills to lead Clark Fork (1-10). Alex McLelland had eight assists, Amy Gannon 11 digs and three aces as the Cats season ended.

"Any had a spectacular night," said Cats coach Andrea Brandt. "She really stepped up in a leadership role and I find that exciting for next year."

Even though the Cats only registered one win, Brandt liked how her team came together late in the season and is excited about next year.

"It was nice seeing the girls accomplish something I've been working with them on all year, watching their confidence raise," said Brandt of what she'll remember about her first season of coaching. "I'm excited for next year, with pretty much the same team."
