SHS soccer, volleyball programs are winners

| October 17, 2007 9:00 PM

They look like champions.

They act like champions.

The Sandpoint girls' soccer team is ready to show the rest of the state they are the class of any classification.

This summer, two standout athletes who attend Clark Fork High School, chose to compete for the Bulldogs. Since Clark Fork doesn't offer soccer, juniors Bailey Hewitt and Brittany Oakley chose to wear the red-and-white uniform of SHS.

The move pushed Sandpoint into the highest state classification, 5A, versus 4A last year when they won the state championship. Incidentally, SHS defeated Cd'A High School last year in a nonleague game. The Vikings were the state champions in 5A last year.

The point is, this team is simply awesome. Don't be surprised if they win the state tournament, which is starting right now.

Adam Tajan and Ed Bock have done all the right things with this squad.

Although they haven't qualified for state yet, the SHS volleyball team is also chock-full of talent and is a blast to watch.

The Bulldogs hope to be competing in the state-qualifying match Saturday at SHS. Read the sports page for more information about times, etc.

Both of these teams have done so well. It's truly amazing how both programs have been the best in the state for so long.

We wish the soccer team the best as they play against the biggest schools in the state. We also hope the volleyball team finds a way around Moscow to bring home another volleyball state championship.

Go Bulldogs!
