Martin sparkles in win

CLARK FORK — Mike Martin threw five touchdowns, three to Drew Wilkinson and two to Austin Martin, as the trio of seniors made sure their last home game was memorable, blanking Lakeside 34-0 Friday night in North Star League action in Clark Fork.

Martin finished 9-14, for 178 yards, and Wilkinson amassed 118 yards on four catches to lead the Cats (7-2, 3-1). Wilkinson also provided a spark defensively with some heavy-duty pad popping.

"He had a monster game on defense," said Cats coach Brian Arthun of Wilkinson. "Some of the best hitting I've seen at Clark Fork. He was coming up and lighting people up."

Arthun loved the way his seniors stepped up, and also had high praise for Ron Miller and the young Knights (0-7, 0-4).

"He's got a lot young guys, but they played hard and defensively shut us down a few times," said Arthun. "They'll be a force to be reckoned with in the future."

Arthun pulled Mike Martin in the third quarter after the quarterback injured his hamstring, not willing to take any risks with a first round playoff game looming next Saturday at 1 p.m. against Kootenai.
