Kenneth Louis Johnson, 85, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. Pastor Steve Bradshaw, Cocolalla Cowboy Church, will officiate.

Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Service on Friday, Nov. 2, from noon until 6 p.m.

Kenneth was born in Cocolalla, Idaho, on Dec. 24, 1921, the son of Charles and Irma Johnson. He graduated from the eighth grade at the Cocolalla School and then farmed, and logged, locally.

During World War II he served with the U.S. Army, seeing action in Alaska, the Philippines, and Korea.

On March 17, 1953, he married Ellen Hunt in Thompson Falls, Mont.

He worked as a logger in Idaho and Montana for many years, moving to his farm off Pine Street in 1965. He managed the Co-op grain elevator until retiring in 1985.

He was a former member of the Sandpoint Eagles. He enjoyed farming his property, working with his livestock, and being around his grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons, Keith of Sandpoint and Kenneth of Westmond, Idaho; three brothers Marvin of Cocolalla, Clarence of Sagle, Idaho, and Charles of Porthill, Idaho; two sisters, Gladys Johnson of Spokane, Wash., and and Evelyn Keller of Westmond; and seven grandchildren, Cory, Jennifer, Sarah, Garrett, Amanda, Grace and Zach.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ellen, a brother Eugene, and an infant daughter Susan Ellen.
