Rabies tag can be used to track owners

| September 5, 2007 9:00 PM

Anyone regularly traveling Colburn Culver Road or the surrounding area, please take note. Also a note about rabies tags.

My dog "Royal" is missing. He was last seen around 7 a.m. Aug. 24 on Colburn Culver Road near the church. He was reported to have been standing in the road. He circled a truck that stopped and looked in the windows, then tried to follow it. If you saw my dog, did you see someone pick him up? Perhaps you picked him up thinking he was abandoned and you haven't been looking for his owner. Royal is not abandoned; he is lost and I am brokenhearted. Please help me find him. Royal is a black pointer with a docked tail about 6-8 inches long. He has white on his chest. He may or may not have been wearing a red "easydog" collar with a rabies tag.

In my search I have discovered many people do not know a rabies tag is a valid form of ID for a dog. The tag is printed with the name and phone number of the veterinary service that administered the vaccine. The number can be searched to locate the owner's contact information and stays in the owner's file forever. Many people use old tags from different dogs while awaiting tags for new pets. If you see a dog that looks lost please don't drive by without reporting it to someone.

My dog could have been found on three separate occasions has someone taken the time to report the sighting. I only have this information because I have been going door-to-door. My dog could be anywhere by now or even dead. I just need to know. Please call me at 255-7041 with any information.
