Allen Joe Brown

Allen Joe Brown passed away at his home on Sept. 1, 2007.

Private family services have been held with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Allen was born in Tendoy, Idaho, in 1921. He and his sister Phyllis moved with the family from state to state as their parents ministered as pastors, helping small churches become established. He left business college in the Midwest to go to California, where he met Joan, the girl he would marry.

During World War II he served, as an ensign, with the Merchant Marine as a radio operator. After the war Allen went to Bible college in Southern California for a minister's degree, while he and Joan settled to raise their family.

When the family was grown he returned to college to become a marriage and family counselor, from which he retired and moved to Sandpoint in 1984.

Allen is survived by Joan Brown, his wife of 62 years; daughter Betty Jo Curto and her husband Dominick; son Douglas Brown; grandchildren Jessica Thomas and her husband Kevin of Atascadero, Calif.,, Chris Curto and his wife Holly of Sandpoint, Jenny Curto of Tacoma, Wash., and Ben Curto and wife Hannah of Sandpoint; and eight great-grandchildren. His brother-in-law Bob Brown of Turlock, Calif.; nephew Robert Brown of Olympia, Wash.; niece Darlene Cowart and husband Randy of Bakersfield, Calif.
