| September 11, 2007 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Brittany Oakley scored two goals and Brittany Clawson tallied three assists to lead Sandpoint past Post Falls 5-2 in IEL action Tuesday afternoon at War Memorial Field.

Bailey Hewitt added a pair of goals, giving her 12 on the season, as Sandpoint (7-2-1, 5-1 IEL) won for the first time in four games.

"The win is good for morale after two tough games where we didn't play up to our potential," said Sandoint coach Adam Tajan, referring to losses against Coeur d'Alene and Central Valley. "Those games keep us in check, keep us honest."

Post Falls (0-6-1, 0-4-1) held a 2-1 lead midway through the first half on free kick goals by Charlie Evans and Kara Siers. Head coach Rob Rowe said his team is comprised of a lot of underclassmen and he's seeing improvement each game.

"A couple of games we've been out-shot, but we're scoring on the opportunities that we do have," said Rowe, whose team was out-shot 14-3 by Sandpoint. "Sandpoint is a great team; they're fun to play against."

Having already played Greater Spokane League members Gonzaga Prep and Central Valley, the Bulldogs will host arguably the best GSL team when they play Mead on Saturday at 1 p.m. at War Memorial Field.

? Anderson leads Bulldogs past Post Falls

SANDPOINT — Sophomore Daniel Anderson scored the first two goals of the game to lead Sandpoint to a 5-1 win over Post Falls in IEL action Tuesday night at War Memorial Field.

Anderson also added an assist, giving him six goals and six assists on the young season. Tanner French, Tanner Williams and Zack Linscott also added goals for Sandpoint (5-3-1, 5-1 IEL). Head coach Randy Thoreson has moved a lot of people around the last few games, trying to get a set lineup for his young and deep team.

"I liked the way we moved the ball today," said Thoreson. "We've been working on mental toughness for 80 minutes, and not just a few moments of brilliance."

Thoreson was pleased at the success of the last set play they ran off a corner kick, finally implementing in a game what they've been working on in practice. On the free kick play, Alex Crossingham dropped the ball off to Ben Murray in the corner and Murray dribbled twice before sliding a perfect pass to Tanner French for the deflection goal.

Griffen Hoerner scored on a penalty kick early in the second half to bring the Trojans (2-2-1, 2-2-1) within a goal at 2-1, but Sandpoint would score three more times to put the game away. Post Falls head coach Gabe Lawson said sophomore defender Dalton VanderPol played exceptionally well while being attacked by Sandpoint all night.

"There were moments of solid play, but the midfield didn't transition well enough with Sandpoint," said Lawson. "When you lose the midfield, you lose the game, bottom line."

Sandpoint will play 5A state power Centennial of Boise on Saturday in Lewiston.

First half — 1, Spt, Daniel Anderson (Tanner French) 28:00. 2, Spt, Anderson (penalty kick) 34:00. Second half — 3, PF, Griffen Hoerner (penalty kick) 43:00. 4, Spt, Tanner Williams (Adam Crossingham) 66:00. 5, Spt, Tanner French (Ben Murray) 77:00. 6, Spt, Zachary Linscott (Anderson) 80:00.

Saves — PF, Phil Ambrosetti 6; Spt, Shawnn Carlson 2.
