Community support made sale a success

| September 12, 2007 9:00 PM

As chairperson for Vietnam Veterans of America's recent annual garage sale on Aug. 4-5 at VFW Hall in Sandpoint, I wish to publicly thank all those who supported and called and who graciously donated an enormous amount of items to our sale. It was an enormous success and everything goes directly back to Bonner County veterans in need.

I also wish to thank all our participating members and their wonderful wives, who donated their time and efforts to make this sale happen.

Special thanks to the Wishing Star and Senior Thrift Store ladies who came and helped arranged all items for sale during the staging process.

Thank you to Sandpoint Furniture for the generous donation of its furniture truck, which aided in the movement of items from our numerous storage facilities.

Thank you to the VFW Hall for letting us use their facility.

Thank you to Dwain Valez for your donation of time and cooking expertise in making breakfast burritos a huge success.

Thank you Chuck Humes of Shriner Klowns for donating your cooking skills and huge barbecue grill for cooking hamburgers and hot dogs.

Thank you Johnny Knight of Blue Sky Broadcasting team for donating your time in broadcasting live from the VFW Hall.

Thank you Bonner County Bee, Blue Sky Broadcasting and Nickel's Worth for your cooperation in creating the ads to inform people of the sale, which as heavily attended by all. And last, but not least, thank you for the opportunity to work with some of the greatest guys and gals of VVA 890. What a treat!
