Morris Gust Tillberg, 74

Morris Gust Tillberg, 74, passed away in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at the First Lutheran Church, 526 S. Olive St., in Sandpoint, Idaho. Pastor Dave Olson will be officiating.

Morris was born on July 29, 1933, in Hastun, Colo., the son of Paul and Sadie Tillberg. The family moved to the Sandpoint area in 1942 and he attended Bonner County schools and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1950. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean era.

He was an ironworker and worked on the construction of the Yellowtail Dam in Wyoming and the Libby Dam in Libby, Mont. He worked construction with the Ironworkers Union out of Albuquerque, N.M., returning to Sandpoint in 1985. Locally he worked for Paul's Chevron and was currently tending bar at the Tam O'Shanter.

Morris was a member of Sandpoint First Lutheran Church and a former member of Sandpoint Eagles Aerie No. 589. He enjoyed fishing, his work, being with people, and watching sporting events on TV.

He is survived by four children, Michael Tillberg, Gloria Schmel and Morris Tillberg Jr., all of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Donna Tillberg Costello of Sandpoint; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stan and Steve, both of Sandpoint; and three sisters, Gloria Buck of Deer Lodge, Mont., and Irma Ridley and Mae Burt, both of Sandpoint. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

His parents and two brothers, Paul and John Tillberg, preceded him in death.
