Senator must explain actions to constituents
Sen. Larry Craig is asking to have his guilty plea withdrawn by the Minnesota court. He says he panicked.
I'm an open-minded person and am perfectly willing to take him at his word, but … nearly two months passed between the incident in the airport men's room and his guilty plea, which, by the way, was not by appearance in the court room, but was mailed in. During that time he said he told no one of his concern, not his wife, not his attorney, no one. Yet without council from those closest to him nor someone familiar with the law, he pleaded guilty.
Before I can accept that I would like to hear an explanation of why he spoke to no one. My experience tells me that is an act of shame or guilt. (I'm a Catholic, believe me I know guilt.)
But, like I said, I'm open minded, just explain your actions to us.
