Bulldogs defeat Bonners Ferry, 3-2

| September 17, 2007 9:00 PM

BONNERS FERRY — Daniel Anderson and Spencer Swerin each assisted on the other's goal, and Tyler Barley booted his fourth goal of the season to lead Sandpoint to a 3-2 non-league win at Bonners Ferry Monday afternoon.

Anderson continues to be a force in the Bulldogs' attack as he leads Sandpoint (6-4-1) in both goals and assists on the season.

"He's a good player and he controls the ball well," said Sandpoint coach Randy Thoreson of his sophomore forward. "People have to watch and keep out for him."

Sandpoint dominated possession while avenging a loss last year to the Badgers. Rob Hart and Miguel Mendez scored as Bonners Ferry was out-shot 22-8.

"You can't let Mendez go at all, he knows where the goal is," said Thoreson, noting the Bulldogs should have scored more than three goals with the looks they were creating. "We bulls-eyed the goalie, went around the goal and went over it."

Sandpoint plays in their biggest game of the year to date when they hit the road to take on IEL-leading Coeur d'Alene on Thursday.

Head coach Randy Thoreson said the Bulldogs were flat, and he would have liked a better showing, but noted Centennial was simply bigger, faster and stronger.
