She spent her early years assisting with the family construction business and enjoying the Swiss life-style. Heidi was proud of her days as a ski racer in Switzerland and often shared those stories with her family. Heidi became schooled in the seamstress trade and then went on to graduate from business school. In the early 1950s, Heidi immigrated with her mother to Canada. She settled in the Banff area where she met Kurt Eric Schulz, her husband of 53 years. They were married on Nov. 14, 1953. In 1955, they moved to Los Angeles and spent the next decade in southern California, Heidi worked with a firm on the stock exchange. Busy with her career and raising her three children, Heidi helped make it possible for Kurt to complete his medical studies. Heidi joined Kurt in his medical practice and they went on to work side by side for many years. Their practice took them to many places and they helped patients in Coeur d'Alene and Boise, Idaho, before finishing their careers in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
