City should eliminate water's fluoridation

Please be alerted that along with the usual city water chlorination, our Sandpoint City Water is fluoridated as well.

As of Aug. 9, more than 600 professionals have signed a petition urging Congress to stop water fluoridation. They cite new scientific evidence that fluoridation, long promoted to fight tooth decay, is ineffective and has serious health risks, including lowered IQ, increased risk of osteoporosis and damage to the nervous system. Signers include a Nobel Prize winner, and hundreds of medical, dental, academic, scientific and environmental professionals, worldwide. Signer Dr. Arvid Carlsson, winner of the 2000 Nobel Prize for Medicine, says, "Fluoridation is against all principles of modern pharmacology. It's really obsolete." Late last year, the American Dental Association, alerted its members that parents of infants younger than a year old should consider using water that has no or low levels of fluoride" when mixing baby formula.

I would like to urge everyone who hasn't already, to do research on fluoride. Dr. Mercola's Web site is a good start. I have started a petition to stop fluoridating Sandpoint city water.
