Sandpoint holds on for boys soccer win
COEUR d'ALENE — Daniel Anderson and Alex Crossingham scored in the first half and Sandpoint (8-4-2, 7-1-1) held on for an Inland Empire League win over Lake City in a game played on Lake City's football field Tuesday night.
Jason Wheelock scored the lone goal for the Timberwolves (5-4-1, 4-3-1) in the second half, with the assist going to Tyler Powers.
"We dug ourselves a hole in the first half," Lake City coach Chad Beadell said. "It's the same story with us. The last couple games we've put ourselves behind the 8-ball."
In a critical event 10 minutes into the second half, Lake City senior Evan Palo was ejected after receiving what Beadell described as a "confusing double-yellow card," while Palo was questioning a foul call made by an official.
The game marked the second consecutive time that Anderson and Crossingham scored all of their team's goals, also accounting for all three in a 3-0 win over Lewiston last week.
Sandpoint hosts Moscow today at 5 p.m. at War Memorial Field.
First half — 1, Spt, Daniel Anderson (unassisted) 10:25. 2, Spt, Alex Crossingham (unassisted) 33:45. Second half — 3, LC, Jason Wheelock (Tyler Powers) 64:00.

? Macumber has big night in Cats' loss (late)
COEUR d'ALENE — Katie Baker finished with 11 kills and Sara McHugh had 22 assists and Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy (2-6, 2-3 NSL) made it two in a row with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-22 North Star League win over Clark Fork Tuesday night.
Chelsea Macumber led Clark Fork (1-3, 1-3 NSL) with six aces, 23 digs and four kills, Megan Hess also tallied six aces, Alex McLelland added three assists and Hannah Hurt a block in the loss.
"It was the most aggressive I've seen all of the girls play," said Cats coach Andrea Brandt. "Hannah did a great job at the net, and Alex is bringing along her game and making smart choices."
Clark Fork will get another shot against Lakeside when they head to Plummer tonight looking to avenge an early season loss in their first match of the year. Brandt says her team has progressed a ton since then and the girls are a lot more confident with their games.
