William E. “Bill” Duryea, 91, passed away at his home in Careywood, Idaho, on Thursday, April 3, 2008.
The vigil rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 7, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Sixth and Oak, Sandpoint, Idaho. Father Dennis C. Day will be officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service on Sunday, April 6.
Bill was born in Atlantic City, N.J., on Jan. 13, 1917, the son of Robert and Florence Duryea. In 1935, he graduated from high school, in Atlantic City, and became a baker by trade.
During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy, and then married Minnie L Balestrieri on Feb. 9, 1946, in Atlantic City, N.J.
For 28 years he was a baker for Kent's Bakery in Atlantic City and then worked for 23 years in a machine shop. He moved to Careywood in 1998 and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on clocks and watches, swimming, fishing, and wrestling.
His wife of 62 years, Minnie L. Duryea in Careywood, Idaho; two daughters, Mary F. Stelly of Careywood, and Erminie Gold of Frisco, Texas; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren all survive Bill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard, and two sisters Bertha and Elizabet.
