Don't turn your back on our kids
What are the arguments against the levy in May? There is too much administration and why not use the money that is there?
Well, if there is too much administration then why are principals responsible for more than one school? Yes, soon this will be the norm and not the exception. Principals need to stay in place, besides money designated for salaries cannot be spent on buildings so back to the issue - the levy.
Where is the money now being spent? On keeping the buildings at status quo. So more money is needed for badly needed repairs.
What is needed? Schools have asbestos, leaking roofs, walkways that are cracking, and much more. So while we whine and complain about the “way things are run” our kids (and I say our kids because children in this community are everyone's responsibility) have water dripping from the ceiling, and floors falling apart under their feet.
Who is responsible? We are. The last successful bond election was in 1953. Some of you want to say parents are the only ones responsible but when you are in need of help and a kid is the only one there should he/she just walk away because after all your not his/her grandparent, aunt or uncle. Are you going to walk away or are you going to do something about it? Now is the time.
Vote “yes” on May 20.
