Shirley Mae Range Stokes

Shirley Mae Range Stokes passed away April 10, 2008, with family members at her side after a long illness which she gave a courageous battle.

A viewing will be held Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Allen Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, North Logan from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with another viewing at the church in Richmond from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 14, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Richmond Stake Center, 135 West Main Street in Richmond.

Interment will be in Hope, Idaho, cemetery on Tuesday, April15, at 3 p.m., where she will be laid to rest with her husband of 40 years.

She was born Oct.r 15, 1925, in Chicago, Ill. She was raised and attended school in Holland, Mich.

After her schooling she moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she meet and married Russell C. Stokes.

The couple moved to Antioch, Calif., where they lived for 30 years and raised their family.

After retiring they moved to Hope, Idaho, upon the death of her husband in 1986 she moved to Logan, Utah, to be near her family.

Shirley was proud of her war work during World War II. he retired after 25 years of service from Anchor Glass as an inspector.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, while she was a member of the Logan 20th Ward she belonged to the Widows Club and enjoyed going to Relief Society.

In the last years of her life she was a member of Richmond 1st Ward, where her son was the bishop.

She belonged to the Eastern Stars where she was a past matron, Job Daughters a Past Guardian, and Ladies of the Oriental Shrine.

She loved doing service for other people, laughing, going to the beach, playing cards, gardening, traveling, camping, fishing, handwork, ice cream, sewing, her pets and most of all being with her family.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the care givers from Logan Nursing and Rehab, Willamsburg Assisted Living and Access Homecare and Hospice.

Shirley is survived by her son, Mick Stokes (Cathy Stokes) of Richmond, Utah; daughter Debra Ricker (Carl Ricker) of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter in-law Caralee Stokes of Smithfield, Utah; sisters, Sally DenUly.and Susan Thomas, both of Michigan; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell C Stokes; a son, Russell T. Stokes; her father, Ted Range; her mother, Lillian Durpstein Range; her stepmother, Connie Norlin Range; and a sister, Virginia Range Bennett.

Shirley will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Primary Children's Hospital or The Shiners Children's Hospitals.
