Offer support, thanks to our nation's soldiers
I’ve just finished reading Mr. Conner’s letter, “Fight the war right or bring our troops home.” I have to admit I’m wondering where such a military genius has been hiding all this time.
“We spank ’em hard” Did you learn this military tactic at West Point or Annapolis? Do it from the air and our subs? This all sounds real good in a fairy tale but in the real world it takes boots on the ground to go in and fight the battles. I suggest you do some research and see how effective a bombing only campaign can be. Learn about the battle tactics of insurgents in Asia. Read how effective bombing was in Vietnam. Saddam lived a long time after the bombs started falling and a bomb is not what killed him. Osama is still reported to be alive. How many bombs have been thrown his way? Think about the ramifications going into another conflict with our military already stretched to the limits. How many innocent people would die from these attacks and how would the rest of the Muslim world react?
No one wants this war to go on any longer than it takes to get the job done but no one knows or can predict how long that will be. Your time would be better spent supporting our troops publicly. Honor them when they come home and help them adjust back into the world they fought so bravely to preserve. Go to the Spokane Airport and wait for returning soldiers to walk off the plane. Go up and offer your support and tell them how much you appreciate the sacrifices they’ve made for your freedom.
