'Conditions' must be met for levy vote

| April 26, 2008 9:00 PM

I will be more than happy to vote “yes” in the upcoming school bond on the condition that beginning in the third grade and continuing through the 12th it be mandatory that all students shall become proficient in both Spanish and Chinese.

In the future, our kids will need Spanish to be able to talk to their co-workers, and Chinese to communicate with supervisors at the factory where they will earn the equivalent of $1.50 a day making widgets for export to China and the European Union.

Classroom time will become available for teaching these two prevailing languages by dropping U.S. history, as the United States will have ceased to exist. Students will not need computer science because those jobs, as recently announced by Bill Gates, will be filled by workers from India. No need for math (fingers and toes will suffice) or sex education, as most of the workers will likely be sterilized.

Our school district should immediately implement this program in order to “safeguard the future for our kids.”
