Do something before we are nation of past

| August 2, 2008 9:00 PM

We have a Democrat who sounds like a Marxist and a Republican who sounds more like a liberal as our choices for president. We are saddled with high gas prices which have led to high food prices, high travel costs, high taxes, etc.

In fact, high gas prices effect all Americans in some way. In my opinion, only one candidate has committed to any solutions regarding this energy crisis and this should enrage us. I predict that if things don’t get any better, truckers will park their trucks, airlines will ground their planes and municipal governments will cut back on fuel consumption and employee costs anyway they can out of necessity.

To this end, ultimately this country will grind to a loud halt and a lot of people are bound to be hurt. Maybe then the Democrat-controlled Congress will get some sense and courage to go against the left fringe kooks and start working on drilling, building nuclear power plants, taking advantage of our vast supply of coal and investing in all alternate energy sources.

We need to do this instead of just saying that it would be 10 years til anythng would help and then not do anything. We shouldn’t put all our eggs in one basket. How can we justify sending millions of dollars to countries that want nothing but harm to come to Americans.

Without us starting to do everything, we possibly can now, a book will one day be written entitled, “The Rise and Fall of the American Empire.”
