Annual barbecue 'Bodacious' fun

| August 6, 2008 9:00 PM

HOPE — It is all about great food, great music and a very good cause. The Memorial Community Center in Hope is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The barbeque will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, beginning at 4 p.m. at the remodeled Beyond Hope Resort located on the Hope Peninsula. The barbecue includes complimentary appetizers, a margarita bar and a wine bar, as well as a barbecue dinner catered by Elissa Robbins of Beyond Hope Resort.

There is always plenty of fun on the water with dancing and both live and silent auctions. The auction includes many one-of-a-kind items, such as a wine tasting and hors d’oeuvre cruise on the Shawnodese for 20 of your closest friends.

Items also include Janene Grende artwork, a Ross Hall photo, a trophy trout Fishing trip for two, a cooking class with wine pairings for six guests, fine wines from Barrister, a seasonal boat slip, and much more.

For your dancing enjoyment we have invited DJ “Rhythm Machine” to help celebrate 25 years of success. John and Jeanette Roche of “Rhythm Machine” will entertain with a variety of musical favorites.

This summer event is the main fundraiser for the Community Center, which has been serving the area communities since the first Bodacious barbecue in 1984.

Tickets to the Bodacious Barbecue are $35 each and are available by stopping by the Center located at the intersection of Highway 200 and Centennial Road or by calling 264-5481 to charge by phone (Mastercard/Visa accepted).  Tickets are also available in Hope, at Holiday Shores Café, Island View Resort, Beyond Hope Resort, and Hope Marine Services; and in Sandpoint at Pend Oreille Pasta.

The community center office is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to noon.  Information: 264-5481.
