Americans are concerned about the 'three Es'

| August 13, 2008 9:00 PM

It’s the economy, environment and employment that are of concern to the average American.

All three are controlled by our elected federal officials and they spend their time bickering, catering to special interest groups and discussing issues that do nothing to save this country’s downward spiral.

On the news you repeatedly hear various politicians make statements about oil drilling, alternative energy and lack of jobs. Some cite that drilling for oil in America won’t lower prices at the pump. Assume for a moment that’s true, at least, it would put people to work, generate money to repair our infrastructure and stop this country’s mass transfer of wealth to other countries.

All this would be done within a country that works to protect the environment. Why do the politicians refuse to improve these conditions and go after fuel sources within the United Sates thus moving away from energy dependence from other countries?

Look at Russia’s control of natural gas and oil and their hold over Europe. Russia provides 40 percent of the energy and all it has to do is turn off the valve when politicians want to get their way on an issue.

Congress and the U.S. Senate: America has the resources, intelligence and hard-working people — please put them to work.
