Elgar wants what is best for the community

Political wrangling among politicians has been an age old pastime since the second presidential election of John Adams over Thomas Jefferson in 1797 (Washington went unopposed). Without sounding too Orwellian, the advent of television has inundated our lives with the mass overflow of election propaganda. The time has come again where our thought processes become congested with each political crest of persuasive electromagnetic energy.

It is a profound quandary of our culture that candidates with the most substantial monetary backing immanently buy their way to office. Their campaign becomes the summation of meaningless idioms and their words are riddled with slander. Despite its misuse, the media is still the most direct and efficient modality for the delivery of a campaign platform. However, it is imperative as Idaho constituents to be able to sift through the political doctrine to unveil candidates of integrity.

There is something to be said for a sincere grassroots campaign. I recently read that Steve Elgar has personally knocked on over 4000 doors. Elgar is running against Republican incumbent Eric Anderson for the position of District 1 House of Representatives. I have initiated contact via e-mail with both parties and have found Elgar to be the only, as of yet, to respond.  I encourage every District 1 voter to do the same. Elgar displays a willingness to answer questions and is genuinely striving for the best interest of the people.  It is imperative that constituents resist complacency and seek answers to pressing questions and vote responsibly.
