Cats fall to Lumberjacks

| December 2, 2008 8:00 PM

St. MARIES - Jared Broggi scored 12 points to lead Clark Fork, which dug an early hole and was never able to hang with St. Maries in a 56-26 loss in nonleague boys basketball action Tuesday night in St. Maries.

The Cats (1-1) were outscored 15-2 in the first quarter, and could never seem to hit a rhythm against the Lumberjacks, one of a handful of early season 3A opponents on the Cats schedule. Chaunce Nesbitt scored six and Nate Nesbitt and Pat Young three in the loss.

Matt Corsi scored a game-high 19 points and tallied three steals to lead St. Maries.

"We pressed early and jumped out on them," said Lumberjacks coach Jeff Mercer.

Clark Fork plays at 3A Timberlake on Thursday.
