Top Dog wrestlers advance to championships

SANDPOINT - Ten Top Dog wrestlers advanced to the championship round while competing at Lakeland High School in North Idaho Wrestling League action recently. Of the 10 finalist, six captured titles in a field that included nearly 400 competitors.

Capturing titles for the Top Dogs were Mason Bangeman, Ryan McNelley, Scout Nash, Casey Randles, Hyrum Hunsaker and Gage Sigman. Nash has remained undefeated through four tournaments, and Hunsaker has won titles at each as well.

Also advancing to the finals were Tristan Authier, Brent Buckmiller, Tyler Presser, and Tanner McNelley. An additional trio of competitors posted multiple wins to finish third: Spencer Rucker, Tanner Kohal and Mahonri Hunsaker.

Two weekends ago at the Priest River Tournament another Top Dogs took titles in Braden Payne, Scout Nash, Hyrum Hunsaker and Casey Randles. Taking second in Priest River were Izaak Bartlett, Cage Sigman, Ryan McNelley, Tanner Kohal, Tyler Presser and Dean Ramey. Grabbing thirds were Tanner McNelley and Tyler Brown.

The Top Dogs  are peaking at just the right time as they conclude their season with the state tournament, slated for Post Falls High School this weekend.
