| December 11, 2008 8:00 PM

Former Sandpoint football standout Erik Stoll will be in action when the University of Montana faces James Madison in an NCAA Football Championship Subdivision semifinal game today at 5 p.m., on ESPN 2. The winner will advance to the FCS championship game, which will be held in Chattanooga, Tenn., Friday, Dec. 19.

Richmond will play at Northern Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. (MT) in Cedar Falls, Iowa, in the other semifinal game.

Stoll, a 6-2, 200 pound sophomore safety, has played in all 14 games for the Grizzlies this season. He's fourth on the team in tackles with 42, despite playing only on special teams and in the nickel packages as an extra safety. He wears No. 4 for the Grizzlies.

Top seed James Madison, which won its 12th straight game to improve to 12-1, advanced to the semifinals with a 31-27 quarterfinal victory over Villanova Saturday. The Dukes scored the winning touchdown with 1:38 remaining, then forced a Wildcat interception in the final minute.

The No. 4 Grizzlies (13-1) advanced with a 24-13 victory over Weber State Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. It was UM's ninth straight victory and avenged an earlier 45-28 loss at Weber State on Oct. 4.
