Bulldogs fall in hoops action

PENDLETON, Ore. - Natasha Roop led Sandpoint with 12 points and six rebounds in defeat as the Bulldogs fell 58-34 to Clarkston Friday on the first day of the Pendleton Tournament.

Roop continues to emerge as a presence for Sandpoint (0-8), which also got six points from Mackenzie Jones and five from Christina Johnson.

"I think we ran out of gas in the second half," said head coach Lance Bruce, who had high praise for the play of Roop. "She did a great job on the offensive glass, grabbing four rebounds and converting three of them."

The Bulldogs had difficulty stopping Clarkston's Kelly McCan-Smith, who exploded for 38 points.

Sandpoint plays the loser of Pendleton/Ontario this morning in the final game of the tournament.

PENDLETON, Ore. - The Bulldogs had multiple double-digit leads and led by eight going into the fourth quarter, before letting the lead slip away in a 68-62 loss to Clarkston on the opening day of the Pendleton Tournament.

Spencer Swerin led the Bulldogs in scoring, and head coach Tyler Haynes said Stefan Buratto did a nice job defensively against Clarkston's top scorer before letting it all slip away.

"We let their pressure get to us," Haynes said of the loss.
