Verby made the right decision

A defense lawyer for a predatory minister claims the child-molesting cleric feels remorse (Former pastor imprisoned for touching girl, Dec. 17). At best, this claim is dubious. (What criminal wouldn't try to seem sorry at a his sentencing hearing?) At worst, it's irrelevant. (An abuser being jailed protects kids, not an abuser feeling remorseful).

We're grateful that Judge Steve Verby locked up Steve Bicknell. By doing so, Verby put the actual welfare of several innocent kids above the professed feelings of one shrewd adult.
