Art of losing isn't hard to master for Big Three

| December 22, 2008 8:00 PM

I borrowed from Elizabeth Bishop's "One Art" and added my two cents about the Big Three.

One Cart

The art of losing isn't hard to master.

Too many tanks need filled in this event.

The Big Three lost, but their loss is no disaster.

They're skidding toward a pit, all racing faster.

Twenty-five billion? How soon will it be spent.

The art of losing isn't hard to master.

They lost their scripted lines amongst bad actors:

Three corporate planes making poor descents.

Now traveling coach won't be such a disaster.

Unless of course this proves to be their last year

Of extravagance maneuvering through dissent.

The art of losing isn't hard to master.

Motor City crashed and never lost its luster

But seemed to coast along without a dent.

The Big Three lost, but their loss is no disaster.

Their bail-out should be a public gesture

Toward failing in a common accident.

The art of losing isn't hard to master.

A Big Three pileup? That's no disaster.
