Rosholt Named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week

Former Sandpoint state champion and current Oklahoma State junior 285-pounder Jared Rosholt was recognized as the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Rosholt ran his season record to 17-0 on the year after pinning Cal Poly's Kelan Bragg in 1:38 as part of a dual meet last Tuesday, then followed that up by toppling two ranked opponents on the way to winning the heavyweight title at the prestigious Reno Tournament of Champions last Thursday.

Rosholt is the consensus No. 1 wrestler in the nation in his weight class.

Feist upsets two ranked opponents en route to Reno final

Reno, Nev. -  Former Sandpoint standout Luke Feist had a stellar tournament recently at the Reno College Tournament of Champions, winning his first four matches before falling in the finals at 197 pounds.

Feist came into the tournament unseeded, before pinning three consecutive opponents and winning his first four matches to reach the 197-pound title bout. While mowing through the 31-wrestler field he upset Edinboro's No. 19 Pat Bradshaw, pinning the junior in 4:21, before toppling another ranked opponent in Cal State Bakersfield's No. 14 Riley Orozco by a 4-3 margin. In the title match, Feist fell 6-3 to another Bakersfield wrestler, Brandon Halsey, to take second place. With three pins on the day, Feist now has 21 for his career, tying him with Scott Loescher for sixth place on the school's all-time chart.

Feist, a senior, is ranked No. 15 at 197 pounds in the latest college poll.

Former Sandpoint wrestler Joey Fio, a sophomore at Oklahoma University, is ranked No. 14 at 125 pounds in the latest poll.
