SHS girls hope to start up lacrosse
A group of Sandpoint High School girls trying to start up a lacrosse team is hoping their energy, coupled with some support from the community, will help them reach their goal.
More than a dozen girls have signed up so far. Morgan Willis, who along with Hope Woodruff is spearheading the effort to start the team, believes more will sign up before the season starts on Feb. 25.
"We thought it would be really fun," says Willis of lacrosse, a sport which continues to grow out west. "Hope and I are kind of teaming up."
The biggest hurdle is finding someone older than 21 who is willing to step up and be their coach. Willis says no experience is necessary, as the sport is relatively new to the area. They're also hoping anyone in the community who wishes to support local athletics can help with financial or equipment donations.
