Sandpoint locals to fly in Outrageous Air Show
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint’s own Tyler Wahlin, Brennen Chasse, Dustin Hendricks and Matt Gillis will be performing in the Yokes Outrageous Air Show this Friday and Saturday. This elite group of jumpers will be performing two free aerial acrobatic shows each night under the lights in the Schweitzer Mountain Village.
Wahlin, Chasse, Hendricks and Gillis will be teaming up with former Canadian National Team members Brad Suey and Olympic Freestyle Gold Medalist Jean Marc Rozon for this high-adrenaline show. Skiers and snowboarders will fly 50 feet through the air side by side one another through fireworks and fire. This is split second timing at its best. With a crew of some of the world’s best riders, this will be a dynamic weekend at Schweitzer Mountain Resort.
Gillis has traveled throughout North America and South America performing in aerial shows. He is currently concentrating on his education at Eastern Washington University. Gillis has been one of the top-ranked New Schoolers in the Pacific Northwest for the past nine years.
Chasse has been skiing since a young age and has participated in freestyle skiing events and aerial jumping shows on the east coast before moving out west to Schweitzer Mountain Resort two years ago.
Hendricks has been performing in the Outrageous Air shows for the past five years. Each year Dustin steps it up a notch and goes bigger than the year before.
Wahlin, 20, is known for his stylish spins and huge air and has been coming on strong over the past few seasons. This will be Tyler’s third year with the team.
This elite group of professional jumpers will be performing two 45 minute shows, one on Friday night and then again on Saturday night. Both shows start at 6 p.m., with the Toyota Torchlight Parade officially kicking off the event. The show will include fireworks, outdoor music, the Snow Bar, several firepits and other festive amenities.
Meet the performers after the show each night in TAP’s for autographs and dancing. On Friday night it’s the Kokanee/Bacardi Bacardi-Gras Party then on Saturday Night let down the mullet at the Skyy Vodka/Kokanee’s 80’s Costume Party.
