John Haile, 84
John Wesley Haile Jr., 84, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
He was born in Gainesboro, Tenn., on Feb. 3, 1924, to John W. and Anna L. (Hensley) Haile. After completing high school, John joined the Army and served in Japan with the 25th Infantry Division during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
Returning from the war, he met and married Dolores L. Mails. They made their home in Los Angeles, Calif., where they raised their four sons. John worked for Gladden McBean/Interpace as the supervisor of quality control with Franciscan Tile and China.
After retiring, he and Dolores bought a ranch and moved to Penn Valley, Calif., where they built their dream home. He enjoyed gardening, tending his cattle, boating restoring military Jeeps, bingo, playing poker, singing and sharing stories with his family and friends. In 2006 John had moved to Coeur d'Alene to be closer to his family.
John is survived by his children, John and Arlynn Haile of Sagle, Idaho, and Tom Haile of Simi Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Idaho, Johnny Haile of Coeur d'Alene, Kimberly and Greg Haile of Simi Valley, Paul and Brandon Haile of Moorpark, Calif., and Donny and Holly Haile of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; great-granddaughter, sisters,Bonnie Gentry of Glendale, Calif., and Ruth Scott of El Monte, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; and sons, Dennis Haile and Gary Frost.
Services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood Hills, Calif.
