Dawn Louise Desirey-Napier, 84

| January 2, 2008 8:00 PM

Dawn Louise Desirey-Napier, 84, fell asleep in the arms of her heavenly Father at the Life Care SCU in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Coos Bay, Ore.

Dawn was born to Elberta and Sidney "Frank" Carter in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on Oct. 10, 1923. She grew up in Butte, Mont., until she was a teen.

She first moved to California and then to Oregon where she met and married the father of her children, Francis A. Desirey. Mr. Desirey passed away in 1973, and Louise moved back to California to be closer to her family.

Louise worked most of her life as a mother, waitress, and as a supervisor in a textile craft factory in California.

After her mother's death, Louise moved back to Oregon where she met and married Edward W. Napier, who passed away on Aug. 4, 2005. She then moved to North Idaho to be near her son and his family.

Louise enjoyed knitting, gardening, canning, raising flowers, and Easter egg hunts in her yard for her grandchildren every year.

Her husband smoked the fish that he caught and she would send them to the family to enjoy.

She loved to read and watch sports, her favorite football team was the San Francisco 49'ers, and she would send them a donation every year.

Louise recently developed Alzheimer's disease, but she always recognized her son Doran and enjoyed their daily visits together, reminiscing about the family and good times together.

On the day of her passing, Doran visited her with her little dog "Lulu," kissed her goodbye and told her he would see her later.

Shortly after that she fell asleep in peace and without pain and now rests in the arms of God.

She is survived by her three sons, Doran (Mary) Desirey of Sandpoint, Warren "Pete" Desirey of Charleston, Ore., and Mike Desirey of Dallas, Ore.; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 10 step-great grandchildren, and one step-great-great grandchild; and two sisters, Bette Lightner of Bakersfield, Calif., and Martha Rodriquez of Oak Harbor, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; six brothers and sisters; a son, Francis A. "Chip" Desirey in 1969; and her only daughter, Florence Rene' Desirey-Henderson in December 2004.
