Anglers fall through ice

| January 14, 2008 8:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Two men who were ice fishing on Lake Pend Oreille in front of the Condo Del Sol complex in Sandpoint fell through the ice on Monday afternoon.

There were no injuries.

The ice was apparently too thin and gave way, plunging the men into the frigid water. The water, fortunately, was only waist deep. Emergency medical personnel assessed the men at the scene, but no treatment was administered.

The Bonner County Sheriff's Office encourages people to refrain from venturing onto local lakes at this time. More sustained cold weather will be necessary before the ice is frozen enough for activities such as ice fishing to be safely performed.
