William Gordon Berg, 83
William Gordon Berg, 83, passed away peacefully Jan. 14, 2008, at home on his beloved ranch. He was born April 14, 1924, in Duluth, Minn., to Andrew and Ina Berg.
A memorial service will be held in Will's honor at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19.
Will served our country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. For a period of time, he was stationed in Farragut, Idaho. He spent most of his life as an electrical contractor. One of his most prominent projects was designing the electrical components of the largest tunnel machine in the world.
His hard work ethic and passion for the job enabled him to travel to Italy and England to instruct others in his field.
Will's hobbies included working on his farm, woodworking in his shop and watching movies with friends and family.
"You can take the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the boy." Will spent part of his life in Los Angeles, Calif., where he raised a family and met his wife, Gail, but his love for the country brought him to Careywood, Idaho, where they started their farm in 1974.
Will was a man of few words. In spite of his many talents and abilities, he always remained modest and humble. He was a giver and not a taker.
Though his accomplishments were many, his greatest victory was in his personal relationship with Jesus Christ, recognizing his need for a savior. This came toward the end of his life and has been a great source of comfort for his family and loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gail; his children, Terry Berg of Olympia, Wash., Chuck Berg of Kirkland, Wash., and Roxanne Berg-Metivier of Missoula, Mont.; his stepchildren, Susan Reimers of Ventura, Calif., and Jesse Watson of Bremerton, Wash.; and his grandchildren, Terah Berg, Heidi Rushforth, Ashley and Cale McDonald and Wesley, David and Tucker Reimers.
