Bulldogs drop two

| January 25, 2008 8:00 PM

SANDPOINT — The Bulldogs suffered two losses Friday night at Les Rogers Court, but still like their chances heading into district play next week.

The first loss occurred when they fell 57-26 to Lewiston, wrapping up the regular season with a 3-9 record in the Inland Empire League. The second loss came directly after the game, when a coin flip with Lakeland, which also finished the season at 3-9 in league play, came up heads after Bulldogs head coach Jim Alsager called tails. Sandpoint will now host Moscow on Tuesday, in the first round of the double-elimination 4A North playoffs, with Lakeland awaiting the winner.

Senior Alissa Tenuto had nine points and three blocks to lead Sandpoint (7-13, 3-9 IEL), and fellow senior Lynn DiBenedetto added six points and five rebounds to fittingly lead the Bulldogs on Senior night. Stephanie Fuqua and Marnise Johnson also saw considerable playing time as the only other seniors.

"All of the seniors produced something and all had some moments, which is good," said Alsager, who liked his team's effort defensively on a night when points were tough to come by. "I don't think we lost any momentum going into districts."

Kiki Edwards-Teasley had 12 points to lead Lewiston (10-10, 7-5 IEL).

Sandpoint hosts Moscow Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the district tournament.
