Robert P. LaMoreaux

Robert P. LaMoreaux passed away Jan. 29, 2008.

A longtime resident of Spokane, Wash., he moved into Vancouver, Wash., where he and his wife resided for more than 30 years.

He is survived by a sister, Joann Sisson, who lives in Sandpoint, Idaho, where he was born on May 17, 1922. Also surviving is a daughter, Judy McAbee of Vancouver, Wash., and grandchildren Jim Dawkins and Tracy Murray; a daughter, Cathy Sly of Maple Valley, Wash., and grandchildren Justin Sly, Brandon Sly and Jordan Sly. Three great-grandchildren also survive.

Bob served in the Air Force as a flight instructor during World War II, continuing to fly for the Civil Air Patrol until his retirement from Burlington Northern Railroad, where he was employed as a dispatcher.

He was an active member of the Vancouver Masonic Lodge and the Afifi Shriners Temple giving of himself in volunteer services to these organizations. He also volunteered at the Evergreen Air shows in Vancouver and the yearly Clark County Fair. He loved the outdoors and spent every opportunity with family and friends camping, fishing, hunting or boating.

In June 2008, a memorial will be held in Sandpoint, Idaho, where his ashes will be laid to rest beside his wife, Lucille. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2002.

Our special thanks goes to Virginia Herriman who cared for Bob offering comfort and dignity in the last years of his battle with Alzheimer's.

Remembrances will be accepted in his honor at the Portland Shriner's Hospital for Children. No flowers please.
