SANDPOINT - School district trustees have appointed five people with diverse backgrounds to the plant facilities levy oversight committee.

Committee members include Dorothy Prophet, Mike Neher, Matt Diel, Dennis Hooper and David Reseska.

Prophet is an escrow officer in Sandpoint and a mother of three teen-agers who wrote in her application letter that she knows how to budget and “stretch a buck, which, frankly, I think is the knowledge and experience that would make me the most qualified.”

Neher recently retired from Henderson, Nev., where he was in charge of operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities, overseeing 125 employees and an operating budget of $50 million.

He is familiar with all phases of publicity facility design, bidding, construction, operation and maintenance, as well as with running and participating on intergovernmental committees.

Diel, Sandpoint, has been a Coeur d'Alene School District employee since 2003. He is a former HVAC technician for the Folsom Cordova Unified School District and has been involved in the last three major school construction projects in Coeur d'Alene.

He also is a certified asbestos supervisor, a homeowner and a parent.

Hooper is a facilities manager for Quest Aircraft Company and has worked in the facilities industry for 24 years. He home schools his children, but uses school district facilities for sports and meetings.

He would like to be a voice for those who do not have immediate connection to the area's schools and may be skeptics.

Hooper has numerous certifications in the building trades, ranging from refrigeration to electronics.

Reseska is employed at Edward Jones. He also has worked in the trades in construction and concrete/foundations. His volunteer duties include serving as vice president of North Idaho Bikeways, vice president of Rock Creek Alliance and the Sandpoint bicycle advisory committee.

He has growing interest in the school system and a personal goal of community involvement. He has a 2 year old daughter who will be entering the school system in a few years.
