Frederick C. 'Fred' DeLosh, 90

Frederick C. “Fred” DeLosh, 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in Garfield Bay.

There will be a memorial Mass on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Father Dennis Day will be officiating.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Oct. 31, 1917. He attended IC Parish Elementary School, graduated from Pio Nono High School for Boys as co-valedictorian, prom king and class president. He attended the seminary for two years and later became a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps.

On April 11, 1942, he married Mary Maxine Tomlinson from Clarendon, Texas, in Milwaukee. They settled in Minnea-polis, Minn., and had four children, Deone Ann, Daniel Lee, Frederick Alan and Rochelle Marie. He was a pilot for Mid Continent Airways and later for Braniff International Airways flying South America, and troops to and from Vietnam. Fred and Maxine temporarily lived in Miami, Fla.; Lima, Peru; and Lake Tahoe, Calif.

Fred was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church and was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sportsman excelling in boxing, semi-pro basketball, quarter horse showmanship, but not limited particularly in swimming, skiing, and football.

He is survived by three of his children, Deone Smith, Daniel DeLosh and Rochelle Daly; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Maxine DeLosh; and a son, Frederick A. DeLosh.
