Hairtenders open for business in Sandpoint

SANDPOINT — With more than 100 combined years of experience, the women of Hairtenders — Kelly Fisk, Joyce Campbell and Donna Carter — are the hair salon version of an allstar team.

The three women, who have plied their trade in various local salons over the years, recently decided they wanted more freedom and independence, which led to the June opening of Sandpoint’s newest salon, Hairtenders.

Like any all-star team, each member has a specialty. Carter is known for her pedicure wizardry, while Fisk tackles the hair coloring duties and Carter is queen of the perfect perm.

They might have different techniques, but all three women agree that the best part of owning a salon is the customer interaction.

“I just love my customers. I really enjoy them,” Carter said.

They also appreciate the peacefulness of being equals in the business without a boss telling them what to do, Fisk said.

The ladies don’t operate specific hours at their salon, but they are willing to accomodate their customers’ schedules.
