CLARK FORK - Two Sagle residents were injured early Saturday morning after the all-terrain vehicle they were on crashed into a tree on Mosquito Creek Road.

Idaho State Police said Nicholas Barnett, 20, and Caitlin Gear, 19, were southbound on the road when the four-wheeler they were riding went off the road for an unknown reason and struck a tree head on.

Barnett was thrown from the ATV and Gear was partially ejected from her seat, according to ISP. State police said it remained unclear on Saturday afternoon which person was operating the ATV.

A state police news release said Barnett was not wearing a helmet. The release did not specify whether Gear was wearing one. Alcohol was listed as a possible factor in the crash, the news release said.

Barnett was transported to Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene and Gear was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.

The crash was reported at 3:12 a.m. in the 1,000 block of Mosquito Creek Road.
