Common sense must be used in drafting laws

I am writing in response to the sidewalk issue on the corner of Third and Pacific. I feel it would be more dangerous for young kids darting from sidewalk to street between parked cars. Fast-driving teenagers with cell phones stuck in their ears or listening to loud music aren't paying attention if a child should skateboard or bike from sidewalk to street.
The City Council would be wise to take a hard look at the law and use common sense in revising it.
Most people like walking in the street. The signs 'Sandpoint is a walking town' did not mean expensive sidewalks but to yield for pedestrians and drive accordingly.
