Ben Mitchell, a 6’5 forward and a 2005 graduate of Sandpoint High School in Sandpoint, Idaho, recently signed to play basketball at Cascade College.

While attending SHS, as a senior, Ben was voted by teammates and coaches as the MVP. He was also voted First Team All Conference by opposing coaches in the league. Along with these honors Ben was also named the MVP of the state wide North vs. South senior all-star game of 2005. As a senior at SHS, Ben averaged 17.4 pts and 12.3 rebounds per game.

After Sandpoint, Ben attended Spokane Community College where he started both freshman and sophomore seasons. During his duration at SCC, the Bigfoot captured a league title in 05-06 and a third place finish in the NWAACC tournament. As a sophomore Ben averaged 16.2 pts and just under 8 rebounds per game. Although Ben hasn’t officially declared a major, he plans on pursuing a degree in education.

“Ben is an immediate impact player for us,” Cascade head coach Anthony Baugher said. “He gives us some much-needed athleticism, but he’s also very skilled. He has the ability to play the three through five spots on the floor.”
