POAC hosting Arts & Crafts Fair
More than 110 artists will participate in Pend Oreille Arts Council’s 36th annual Arts & Crafts Fair at City Beach in Sandpoint on Aug. 9-10.
Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Unique and handcrafted art, live entertainment and shopping on the beach make for an excellent mini-vacation in scenic northern Idaho.
Artists from across the western United States have been selected by a jury to participate in this year’s fair. The jurors strive to select a balance of quality art in a variety of media, with a special emphasis on artists unique to this area. Works will include painting, photography, pottery, fiber, jewelry, glass, woodwork, metal and multi-media.
Find unique additions for your home and garden, such as handcrafted wooden benches or metal garden gates and structures. Browse the aisles in search of that perfect ring, necklace or pair of earrings crafted from the finest metals, stones, glass and fibers. Enjoy photography, fine oils and acrylic works from some of the regions top, award-winning artisans. Bring the whole family to the children’s art booth, which will feature clay, painting, sculpture and face-painting for kids up to age 12.
This year’s fair also has a terrific selection of food vendors, including Greek food, berry kabobs and kettle korn, burgers and hotdogs, teriyaki chicken, noodle and rice dishes, fresh citrus drinks, and a local favorite for cold pressed coffee and treats, FC Weskil’s. Entertainment by local and regional musicians and performance artists will last throughout the weekend.
Performers include Monarch Mountain Band, Folk Remedy, Mixolydian, Beth Pederson, Steve Pike, Kathy Colton and the Reluctants, Rokicki and Furlong, Larry Mooney and the Childbloom Guitar Program, the Sisters of Selket Belly Dancers, and MiLor’ Productions Exhibition/Variety Show.
All proceeds from the fair benefit Pend Oreille Arts Council’s year-round visual and performing arts activities and educational programs in the community. For additional information, contact POAC at 208-263-6139 or www.ArtinSandpoint.org.
