City needs to overhaul 'recycling' program

| June 2, 2008 9:00 PM

I am writing to express my disgust with being lied to by the city of Sandpoint's 'recycling' program. I am speaking about the fact that the glass I have so carefully been sorting and putting into the city's recycling bin for years has been buried in pits rather than recycled as one would suppose.

I am also a preschool/kindergarten teacher in Sandpoint. I have strived to teach these young children that by recycling we will become better stewards of the earth. Many of them have taken it upon themselves to set up recycling programs in their homes or at events that they participate in. I don't want to tell them that we have all been lied to and the glass they collect hasn't been recycled at all, only buried.

City of Sandpoint, Waste Management, step up to the plate. Is this a recycling program or isn't it? Stop the lies. Help the earth.
