Locals made event a big success

To the people of Priest River and Bonner County: On behalf of all the members of my administration, please accept my profound thanks for your hospitality and the great civic virtue you displayed on the occasion of the Capital for a Day event in your community on Tuesday, May 20.

Indeed, other towns in Idaho that are designated “Capital for a Day” will be hard pressed to match the level of community spirit, justifiable pride and sense of family that resides in Priest River and Bonner County.

Sens. Shawn Keough, R- Sandpoint, and Joyce Broadsword, R-Cocolalla, and Reps. Eric Anderson, R-Priest Lake, and George Eskridge, R-Dover, Mary Lou Shepherd, D-Wallace, and Dick Harwood, R-St. Maries, Priest River Mayor Jim Martin, city and county officials from the surrounding area and everyone who participated in the day's events deserve the highest of praise for making Priest River such a great place to live, work and raise a family.

As an Idaho native and former member of Congress, it was especially nice to be among folks who share my love of Idaho's agricultural heritage and rural values. Rest assured that I will cherish the memories of my day with you throughout my time as governor and beyond.
