Robert “Bob” Dietz

Robert “Bob” Dietz, 63, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at his home in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 9 a.m. at The First Christian Church in Sandpoint with Pastor Tony Nelson officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel.

Bob was born on August 16th, 1944 in Beach, North Dakota to Joseph and Grace (Wassmann) Dietz.

He grew up in the Sentinel Butte area and graduated from Sentinel Butte High School in 1963. He entered the U.S. Army in July of 1963 where he was stationed in Augsburg, Germany with the 7th Army, 125th Transportation Battalion, 396th Transportation Company as a Specialist 4. He was granted an Honorable Discharge on January 31, 1969. Bob was a Staff Sergeant (E-6) in the National Guard for 15 years when he was granted an Honorable Discharge in 1984.

Bob met and married Christa Gigl on September 17th, 1965. They moved to Seattle, where he worked for Boeing and Microsoft. Bob and Christa adopted two foster children and moved to Sandpoint, ID in 2005. Bob was active in the First Christian Church since 2005.

Bob loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, being surrounded by family, camping, auto mechanics, and woodworking.

He is survived by Christa, his wife of 43 years, Bob (Dawn), Sandra (Dan) Schmidt, Tom (Kim), Matthew, and Travis. He also is survived by his grandchildren Jacob, Seth, Kate, Jorja, Brittney, Courtney, Faith, Grace, Tom Jr. and Danjela, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Joe, Grace and his step-mother Johanna, his two sisters, Myrtle and Marcella.
