Yoga benefitting from a double standard

| June 11, 2008 9:00 PM

I write today about yoga. Not to promote or condemn, but merely to warn.

Many, many people are drawn into yoga believing it to be purely physical, with breathing, stretching, et cetera ' nothing religious or spiritual.

But I would like to offer a few quotes that any person involved in or considering yoga should read and take to heart. Dr. Walt Larimore, a specialist on the subject, says, 'Yoga has spiritual roots.' Another expert in yoga and the occult says, 'Hatha Yoga sounds like a nice simple set of exercises … There is a point beyond which the powers of the mind ends and demonic powers take over.'

Hmm. The taking over of demonic power via yoga. Sounds pretty spiritual and dangerous to me. And, nevertheless, it's promoted in our schools, churches and communities. I find it interesting that yoga, which has 'spiritual roots,' is welcomed in our school when the Bible is not.

Somebody isn't telling somebody something.
