Ruth Lally Brown, 74, passed away on May 29, 2008, in Burlington, Mass.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint with Father Dennis C. Day officiating.

Ruth was born April 14, 1934, in Waltham, Mass., to Francis and Mary Lally. Ruth was a caring woman. Her warm and gentle smile reflected the relationships she made throughout her life.

She held a master’s degree and was a dedicated social worker for many years. She was a selfless woman who devoted her life to helping others, and many will remember her big St. Bernard dog.

“Ruthie,” as she was affectionately known by her friends and patrons, worked as a waitress at the old Traveler’s restaurant. She was active in her church, assisting at St. Joseph’s soup kitchen and participating in Lenten Faith Sharing. She also faithfully delivered Meals on Wheels for more than 25 years, rain or shine, sleet or snow.

Ruthie loved to host parties and the Dover Book Club.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Thompson of Melrose, Mass., and Ann Costanza of Reading, Mass.; a brother, Thomas Lally of Virginia; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Brown; and two brothers Bill and Frank Lally.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 279, Sandpoint, ID 83864.
